What’s New

  • For starters, we performed our first internal network test last week and it was a huge success! Though it was relatively simple, the game ran smoothly. We encountered minimal lag even while east and west coast devs were playing together. We’re looking forward to ramping up these tests over the next few weeks in preparation for the Alpha Combat Arena later this year.

  • The art team has begun development on textures, models, animations, and concept art for several kinfolk- including a few new faces! We’ll talk about this more in the next development update.

  • The design team has been hard at work cooking up new surprises! Most of their attention is currently being given to features related to combat, such as new attacks, passive abilities, and arenas.

  • We’ve started hosting podcasts on our Twitch channel! Next up is a Q&A featuring Meyuu, our Community Art Contest winner, and Kayla Kosik, our set piece modeler! The stream starts Saturday, April 11th at 2:30pm (14:30)

  • EST, so be sure to check it out!

  • You can expect to see more development updates on a bi-weekly basis starting Friday the 24th. In these updates we’ll be summarizing how various aspects of the game have progressed, and occasionally offer sneak peaks!

Rewards

  • The Progress Board and Digital Wallpaper Pack are nearly ready! In one week, we plan to start sending out emails containing these rewards to everyone who backed us.

  • We’ve recently ordered the first Kickstarter Awburn plushie for internal review! If everything is up to the level of quality we expect, we’ll begin the process of ordering and shipping them soon. The process has been slow due to closures in the wake of COVID-19, but we want to make sure that the plushies are being made safely.

New Contest: Exploration Music!

  • As Rob mentioned in his interview with Impossible Coin, Kindred Fates’ next community event will be a music contest! This time the theme is exploration. We’re looking for a song that will fill us with a sense of wonder and adventure while exploring one of the many locations in Hinterlock.

  • Submissions must be at least 1 minute and 45 seconds long, include similar instrumentation to other Kindred Fates tracks, and be submitted to the #contest-submissions channel of our discord in order to be considered. The contest starts Thursday April 9th, and will conclude on Friday May 1st at 11:00pm (23:00) EST. As always, we’re looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Thanks for reading. More info on the game coming soon!
